Meet U'Rainnah

Degree:  Health Information Management Bachelors Class of 2014

U'Rainnah completed her prerequisites at:
I completed my prerequisites at California State University, Bakersfield, CA.

Why she chose to attend the School of Allied Health Professions at Loma Linda University:
I chose to attend the School of Allied Health Professions at Loma Linda University because of its reputation as one of the top 15 universities in the United States. I am also a Seventh Day Adventist and wanted to attend an Adventist university.

Her personal point of view.....How is LLU preparing her:
Loma Linda University is preparing me for a successful career in Health Information Administration through education and clinical experiences that will enhance my ability to work effectively in my chosen field and give back to the community.

What her plans for after graduation:
After graduation, I plan to move to Madison, Wisconsin to pursue my career as an Implementation Consultant with Epic Systems.

What activities she likes outside of class on or off campus.
When I am not in class or studying, I like to watch movies while relaxing at home. I also love to go camping, fishing, and water skiing.

U'Rainnah helps within the community by:
I volunteer at the KSGN Christian Radio station. I work in the office and at the KSGN booth during concerts and other events. While in the office or at an event, I have the opportunity to speak with people about Jesus Christ and pray with them. It is very fulfilling because it allows me to grow as a child of God. The music is pretty good, too!

Her Advice to Prospective students:

To those of you who are considering Loma Linda University, be prepared for the best college experience of your life. I have grown so much since attending LLU. You will be nurtured by so many people, including your fellow students. You will begin making friends from the very first day of attendance. Really!

Her favorite student experience so far
I had a clinical at Eisenhower Medical Center. Attending the clinical gave me the opportunity to experience what I had only read about in text books. It brought everything together so that I now have a better understanding of where I want my career choices to lead me.

Her Top 5 favorite places around LLU

1) The Campus Store because I love when there is a clearance sale on campus gear.
2) The Loma Linda Market because it has The Blue Zone smoothie bar...Yum Yum!
3) The Loma Linda Medical Center cafeteria because they make the best french fries and grilled cheese sandwiches.
4) The Del E. Webb Memorial Library because it's a great place to study and just get away from it all!
5) Last, but not least, the Loma Linda University Church. It is always a blessing to hear the word of God. Amen!

What motivates her to continue her educational pursuits?
It's been a long time since I attended college. I decided to make a career change but I wanted the change to enhance my computer science background. I've worked with several different companies, but the one that stands out the most is Group Health Cooperative. I worked at the Operations Help Desk. I learned a lot about the healthcare systems during my employment there. That is why I decided to gain more knowledge by attending Health Information Administration program at Loma Linda University.
