Alan Alipoon, MS, RRT, RCP

Program Director, Post-Professional Respiratory Care 

Alan Alipoon is the Program Director of the Post-Professional BS in Respiratory Care Online program and teaches courses in the entry level Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Care program. He graduated from Loma Linda University (LLU) with an Associate of Science in Respiratory Therapy in 1977 and after graduation pursued employment at Loma Linda University Medical Center (LLUMC) Department of Respiratory Care. He continued his education earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2000 from California State University, San Bernardino and a Master of Science in Health Professions Education from Loma Linda University in 2017. He earned his Registered Respiratory Therapy credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care in 1984 and has been a licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) in the State of California since its inception in 1985. At LLUMC, he started on the night shift as a bedside RCP in the Respiratory Intensive Care Unit, progressed to Lead Therapist then Supervisor and was the Department Manager of Education before transitioning to the Department of Cardiopulmonary Sciences as full-time faculty in 2010.

In 2003, Alan collaborated with the Department of Cardiopulmonary Sciences at LLU and started the Respiratory Care Residency Program at LLUMC with goals of retention and recruitment for the department and the opportunity for candidates in the program to obtain advanced degrees. He has served as a member of the Respiratory Therapy Education Program Advisory Boards for four southern California AS degree in Respiratory Care and is currently Chair of the Advisory Board for our Bachelor of Science Degree Program. He currently teaches courses in the Cardiac Electrophysiology Technology and the Radiology Assistant programs in the Radiologic Technology Department and serves as a member of the Program Committee for the California Society for Respiratory Care’s (CSRC) annual convention.
