(Singing) “It’s the most wonderful time of the year…with the kids jingle belling and everyone telling you ‘Be of good cheer’…It’s the most wonderful time of the year.”
Christmas! I have to say this is one of my favorite times of the year. Why? Well, I think the music is my favorite part because it sets the festive spirit like nothing else. And this year, I have to admit I have been listening to Christmas music since beginning of October! Scandalous, I know.
This quarter has been quite busy, and with all the nights of homework assignments and cutting out therapy materials, Christmas music has helped to keep me smiling. But as I sit here thinking about what to write for this blog post I have to ask myself, what really is the BEST part of Christmas? It’s the celebration of Christ’s birth, right?
I am so thankful that Christ came to this earth as a baby, but why am I thankful that he came? This is the part that often doesn’t get talked about at Christmas. Jesus came to this earth so that I don’t have to stay here. He came so that I could be forgiven and my sins made white as snow. He came so that one day I can live with Him in heaven forever. Christ came as a baby so that when He comes again He can take me with Him.
I think this is the BEST part of Christmas. The promise of Christ’s second return. Christmas takes a lot of prep work. There is decorating, present shopping, planning family activities, buying plane tickets; so much to plan for! Are we taking as much time to plan for Christ’s second coming? I may be ready for Christmas this year, but am I ready for Christ to come again? Am I ready for his second coming? This Christmas, something I will be remembering to think about is Christ’s second coming, and preparing for that glorious day that will be better then any Christmas party. What will you be thinking about and preparing for?
