Assistant Professor

Professor Reid is a full-time faculty member and Assistant Professor of Communication Sciences and Disorders in the School of Allied Health at Loma Linda University. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music, Master of Science Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders, and a Ph.D. in Rehabilitation Science. He currently teaches courses in Phonetic Transcription, Speech & Hearing Science, Instrumentation, and Instruction in American English Dialects (accent modification). Clinical emphases include dialect instruction, mod-severe autism spectrum disorders, and school-age & above speech sound disorders. Research interests include instrumental analysis of speech-sound production (physiological and acoustic), speech-sound perception, and phonological patterns generated by L1-L2 interaction. Current research emphasizes socioemotional outcomes of accent modification as well as the investigation into background knowledge required for and relevant to clinical proficiency at the allophonic level.
