The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders seeks to fulfill the mission of Loma Linda University and the School of Allied Health Professions through the academic and clinical education of communication sciences and disorders professionals.
We participate in the mission of the University and School through the education of competent, ethical speech-language pathologists and other related professionals, through the application and expansion of professional knowledge, and through the speech, language, and hearing services provided as part of the educational program.
We prepare excellent professionals who are ethical, knowledgeable, proficient, and ready for professional practice.

Many students express the desire to participate in mission service here at Loma Linda University. Our department has been blessed to develop and participate in the China Mission Project since 2013. Each summer, several faculty and selected graduate students provide training, teaching, and clinical collaboration with our colleagues in several hospitals in China. Our department also takes part in the School of Allied Health Professions interdisciplinary project in Baja California. Along with Physical Therapy and Orthotics and Prosthetics department faculty and students, we provide evaluation and therapy services to pediatric to geriatric patients over weekend trips. Mission service trips provide a chance for students to grow in their clinical and professional skills and apply what they have learned in class to help and serve others. Giving of their time and of themselves to help and serve others makes a dramatic and lifelong impact on our students.
